Pictured here is a steering shaft from a large piece of equipment that N.I.S. was asked to inspect. By providing test results to the customer, N.I.S. was able to save the customer over 20 hours of down time.
The black lines on the steering shaft are cracks, identified by the red arrow. These cracks were reported to the customer’s equipment foreman.
This photograph illustrates the visible crack on the steering shaft at 36″ as well as on the instrument. This particular photo proves that the shaft can be tested without removing it from the equipment.
