N.I.S. History & Legacy
Nondestructive Inspection Service (N.I.S.) was founded by Morris Hauldren in 1960 after gaining valuable experience in nondestructive testing (NDT) while serving in the Air Force and later working at Union Carbide. With a vision to elevate inspection standards, Morris and his wife Clara established N.I.S., which has grown from a regional service provider in the WV-OH-KY tri-state area to a global leader in the field. A milestone in N.I.S.’s history was on May 3, 1977, when Morris received a patent for equipment designed to inspect down-hole tubulars on offshore drilling platforms. Since then, N.I.S. has had many opportunities and challenges to inspect all types of equipment in many industries, which has given us an enormous amount of experience. This experience is one of the reasons we have travelled all over North America, South America, and Europe to provide NDT Services that have saved customers millions of dollars in costly unscheduled downtime. This experience is what sets N.I.S. ahead of other NDT companies ten times our size.
